Grateful Guitars Foundation to Honor Terrapin Flyer at Martyrs’ Chicago

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, the Grateful Guitars Foundation will join the Chicago Grateful Dead community at the iconic Martyrs’ for a night blending legacy, celebration, and giving back. Terrapin Flyer guitarist Josh Olken will join the ranks of GGF guitar recipients, and we will make a $5000 donation in commemoration of the gift to The People’s Music School, a Chicago nonprofit offering tuition-free music education to young people across the city.

Terrapin Flyer, born from Chicago jam nights in 1999, has become one of the leading Grateful Dead–inspired bands in the Midwest keeping the music alive for this robust community. Their 3-night Thanksgiving weekend celebration serves as the perfect stage for this celebration.

The night also highlights the future of music with the gift to TPMS tying directly to our mission: securing world-class instruments for today’s talented players while investing in tomorrow’s musicians through education.

Meet us at Martyrs’ to witness a special night where past, present, and future come together in sound, spirit, and generosity.
