Grateful Guitars Foundation Supports BERTHA and Northside School of Music in Minneapolis
On Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Minneapolis’ legendary First Avenue, Grateful Guitars Foundation will present BERTHA: Grateful Drag bassist Jacob Groopman with a new bass rig, part of the foundation’s ongoing work putting quality gear in the hands of musicians carrying the jam band tradition forward. BERTHA is an all-star collective of queer and allied musicians from Nashville who perform in full drag and have built a devoted following among Dead Heads for the joy they bring to their performances.
Alongside that gift, GGF is making a $5,000 financial contribution to Northside School of Music, a Minneapolis non-profit dedicated to making music education accessible to everyone in North Minneapolis by employing sliding-scale tuition so cost is never a barrier to learning. Founded in 2024 by Jaette Carpenter and Ellie Fregni, Northside School of Music serves students of all ages with a mission of Music For All. The school offers private lessons, group instruction, and ensembles across a wide range of instruments at a time when arts programming continues to disappear.
